I chose ETR because I developed lower back pain in my early forties and on advice from my GP & chiropractor, started looking for someone who could help strengthen key muscles as well as advise on appropriate movement and strengthening techniques. Clearly too many years of sitting had weakened me.
The ETR team are extremely knowledgeable and professional coaches. I needed somewhere that could help with my specific issues but also teach me the key fundamentals of movement and strength training. ETR is a friendly place and the helpful atmosphere is fantastic.
When I started I discovered that ETR was different to other gyms I'd been to. The movement and strength exercises ensure that your whole body is strengthened and you quickly learn that everything is connected, from your feet up. During my training it was identified that I had feet, hip and shoulder issues as well - all of which were contributing to the back pain. Rather than just being told to do something, the Coaches explain why we do it and over time this understanding has helped my recovery immensely.
My biggest achievement so far has been the near elimination of the constant lower back issues I'd had prior to starting my journey. A recent 44kg goblet squat was exciting too!
I'm looking forward to getting even stronger and being in a position to confidently play some sports I love without worrying about tweaking my back. Once you feel yourself getting stronger, you don't want to stop - it's a fantastic feeling and brings with it a realisation that you have to train your body to move to new levels of confidence.
